Rainy Days

Once again after a stint of absence I return * crowd goes wild* OK, enough of my corny antics... for now. Its a bittersweet day in NYC as it rains outside and the clouds hang gray. On days like these I prefer to stay indoors with a few good DVDs, snacks, soothing music and a comfy blanket. So, what better to post than my baby Ne-Yo's new video?! "Part of the List" is one of the sweetest songs off his last album Year of the Gentleman. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the video (even though I must admit, the kisses *kill* me) which is followed by a totally random piece I wrote a few years ago :)

whipped cream

soft silky caramel skin
your touch like velvety chocolate
sweet scents and glimmering shadows
the time we spend seems endless...

a fleeting glance, a swallowed scream
preparing for another day
a waking life separated by circumstance
we remain together in the land of dreams

eyes like black pearls
words written in strawberry red
bitter silence and salty feelings to be held
hand in hand with the infamous lover, regret...

a fleeting glance, a swallowed scream
preparing for another day
a waking life separated by circumstance
we remain together in the land of dreams

crystal tears healed with butterfly kisses
silent prayers to the heavens of man
a delectable concoction of love's ice cream
all dipped and covered with whipped cream...

a fleeting glance, a swallowed scream
preparing for another day
a waking life separated by circumstance
we remain together in the land of dreams

WTF

OK, lately I have been noticing a few things about some of the females in the music business, namely a lack of originality. A lot of them are trying to make a hit even long after their 15 seconds of fame has long since passed.

Example #1: Teairra Mari

WTF is she doing coming back on the scene sounding too much like Ms. Keri who has already captured our attention? I mean, "What A Girl Wants" was a hot jam but that was about, say ummm, 4 years ago. I respect her persistence, I really do, but her last joint featuring Niki Minaj, sad to say, was just bad. Which leads me to my second example, Cassie.

We all know that Cassie is nice to look at but can someone tell her she needs to stop trying to sing? Using a sexy voice to talk over a track gets you only but so far. And maybe, just maybe, fucking around with P.Diddy has her feeling a little like Britney Spears because have you seen the new hair cut?!:

Example #2: Cassie

So, in conclusion, can someone please let me know if the world has gone completely crazy or maybe just deaf?

FUNky!

So, I was a bit bored and decided to scour the internet in search of some...shoes! Not that I intend to shop with the economy in such a poor state, I much rather pay my rent and buy groceries. Nonetheless, I managed to get the hint that this year's shoe season is going to be one of wild color, high heels, open toes, and the occasional platform.

What it all means? It means that I found a few lovely yet odd designs that I just had to post and share with you all! I haven't made up my mind as to whether or not I'd attempt to wear these if given the chance. Then again, living in New York City just makes crazy things that much more likely!

A look back

I know I haven't been the best blogger ever since I started "The BulletProof Diaries" and there is no excuse for that. However, such is life and I had a mildly stressful week so, please, bare with me.

Ever notice how frustration an anger can be converted into equally powerful and productive energies? Everything from art to literature to exercise can be done under the influence of these energies. Ergo, while feeling a bit upset over a series of events beyond the scope of this post a light bulb went off in my brain. I remembered an old poetry project that I had begun some years ago. All I did was collect poems by friends and family as well as notable authors and anonymous internet bloggers and began to compile them into a notebook titled "Paradox of Paradise". Somewhere between the pages I added in work of my own along with thought provoking quotes and pictures of medieval torture instruments/techniques. I know it sounds a bit disturbing but the whole thing put together is quite nice...

Here is the introduction to the book along with an excerpt of a poem (complete with exact image) I contributed to the collection:

Dear Reader,

The following collection of poems is one I personally assembled with the assistance of the those closest to me. I kindly advise that this collection is not for the squeamish or highly sensitive. Poems of all sorts: love, anger, sorrow, remorse, etc.- lie within the pages of this book in an effort to capture the beauty of words and are accompanied by diepictions that may be considered offensive. However, I do advise that when reading the lovely sentiments and raw emotion of these works, that you keep in mind that all the depictions were chosen for their symbolic and metaphoric meaning. I ask you to take these meanings and store them in the back of your mind while reading to provide the best possible experience. For my mission in combining words with images here is to provide perspective into the darkest areas of the soul where one may often feel lost and abandoned. Everyone has had the experience in which they have felt utterly alone whether it being within positive or negative aspects and the words written to form these poems, in many cases, are outlets of these emotions as they are written from ordinary people just like you and I. Occasionally, you will encounter the work of the more famous poet but they were people nonetheless. I hope you enjoy the collection for I have invested a great deal of time in copying and assembling these pages and I ask that you respect the views of those poets who contributed their works to the collection.

"Variations on a "This is Just to Say" by Williams Carlos Williams"

I amputated your limbs

when you were

asleep, last night
around midnight

You were probably

intending to

jog at sunrise,

Forgive me, but
the knife was so

sharp and you

looked so peaceful

To think that this was all created when I was just 15-17 years old, strange isn't it? Am I an emotional person? You decide...

Ever Wonder...?

Why don't some people appreciate life as they should? The slightest acknowledgment of a flower, bird, smile, or frown would do...

A Fly on the ® Train

Buzzing down Fifth Avenue, a fine day for flight
Circling Central Park, street vendors all about
I take a detour, a path less trodden
The subway line, letter ® for revive, relive, and return
My trip home hopefully a leisure one
Next to beings of ignorant bliss and petty pleasures

As the fly, I paused in my path to board the train,
The hollow heralding of a bell hums,
No movement, I just rest…
A station is reached revealing a crowded platform
Someone steps in not noticing me
My life is ended leaving my carcass cold

My death disrupted life’s natural balance within the train;
A lady next to my body frets about, agitated with thought
Shifting and adjusting as if made of plastic
My soul watches, standing by, did she not bare witness
To the arrival of the beast, manunkind?
My fly carcass on the floor beside her, rotates torn in two

I wondered how humans think and feel
What is normal and what is not
Questions that I will never know the answers to
Another stop on the subway line is reached
Like all things dead and gone I must leave existence
Bidding my fly carcass farewell

I've Got to Dream Big!

If you thought Fiji was gorgeous...wait until you look up Bora Bora! I don't remember when was the first time I heard about the island but I do remember it being mentioned in the movie XXX. Seems like I am not the only one enchanted by Bora Bora's beauty. I don't know what it is about Bora Bora and Fiji alike, but they just captivate my interest at the moment. Something about the blue water and white sand just says "paradise" to me. Similar to Fiji, the people of Bora Bora are largely uninfluenced by the western world, so tourists might be faced with having to take part in certain customs of the island (particularly with regards to fashion). But have no fear! It is all done as a sign of respect and good cheer. Will someone one whisk me away to this lovely island? Ha! maybe not in this lifetime but a girl can still dream, right? As aslways, feel free to explore your own dream destinations... until next time click here for more of the lovely Bora Bora (^_^)

House, MD

One of my favorite shows on television is House, MD. I absolutely adore the medical jargon, perplexing cases, and most of all Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie) just exudes a special brand of charm! Then there are Drs. Robert Chase (Jesse Spencer) and Eric Foreman (Omar Epps) who stick by to make sure that the ever so lovable Dr. House doesn't go completely rouge. I also appreciate Dr. James Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard), House's best friend and confidant, I mean if you have ever seen the show you would feel the same way! After all who in their right mind would befriend a rude, obnoxious, Vicodin popping diagnostitian other than Wilson?! It is for these reasons and for the love of science/medicine, that I induct the men of House, MD as the first men in my "Sexy Men" collection.

Like OMG!

I just love how dance hall artist Timberlee shows off her versatile sexiness in this video. When will the world understand that heels are the greatest? Albeit, some of my favorite pumps and stilettos have gotten a bad name over the years for turning feet into less than lovely, wearing them is really an art form! It isn't for every woman to try, I seriously mean this because I for one hate feet but nice ones are a must!

Here are a few picks from my wishlist:

Giuseppe Zanotti

Attack of the "Hipsters"???

There is a lot going on in the way of new music and most people, myself included, don't really know how to feel about it. Granted I'm still on the "young" side but I still find myself shaking my head from time to time and drawing comparisons between today's music and the music of my yesteryear (a.k.a. my childhood). However, with that said I tend to be classified as "unique" or "corny" but whatever the classification, I know I'm just me! So I figured, why not make a list of some of the new artist I am tending to like despite the opinion of others!

First up is Day 26. Yes, that is correct, the boys of MTv's Making The Band 4. The only thing I know about these guys is that they are another one of Diddy's creations and I am liking their music so far. But before anyone gets their panties in a bunch let me just say that I still do love Brutha and I don't care to compare the two groups very much. Each has their own "bag of tricks" to bring to the table! Any who, Day 26 just came out with a video for their single "Imma Put It On Her (remix)" featuring Yung Joc and, of course, Diddy.

Bonus Video! Brutha "She's Gone"

Next up are the Ladies! Two new groups that I feel are worth noting at the moment ( all the others will have to wait for the next post just like the other male artists I didn't include above) are Electrik Red and Sophia Fresh. Something about these two groups just draws me in and takes me to my inner happy place! I think it has something to do with all of the colors, funky outfits, and cute boys!

Wishful Thinking!

One of my goals in life is to see the World! I tend to day dream a lot and most of the time I find myself on a lush green island of some sort with white sand beaches and crystal blue waters. I have no idea how a city girl like me ends up with such fantasies! Thus, I have decided to start a blog series appropriately called "BucketList Travels." It will feature locations all over the world that I would like to visit at some point during my life before I "kick the bucket."

First up is my long time fantasy wonder land...the Fiji Islands! One of the most appealing aspects of these islands is that they are one of the last unpolluted locations on the globe. Most people have never heard of them and probably think that Fiji is just the name of some really good bottled water:

I mean, the water is good, one of my favorites actually... but most people don't know why its good! Its pure, naturally refined by the geography of the Fiji Islands just as nature intended it to be! Needless to say, this fantasy will be the death of me because I intend to visit the Islands or die trying. The people there are said to be very friendly and still uphold their traditional customs, in other words, they have yet to be majorly corrupted by the world's so called "super powers."

After these few points, wouldn't you want to rent a bungalow on the waters with me? Enjoy the forests and warm breeze? If your still unsure and think that I am slightly out of my mind to want to travel half way around the world to some virtually remote islands, I leave you with a few pictures of my dream! Not to worry though, I have also attached a link to a travel site just in case you may want more of this wonderful slice of heaven on Earth!

En Cine

Don't you just hate it when something really good or interesting is going on and you totally know nothing about it? No te preocupes, I got you in the post right here.

Early this week I was flipping between music channels when I came across a clip on Mun2 about a featured Latino indie film. At first I thought the clip focused on an actor who happened to make it to the indie screen and blow some Sundance/IFC people away, but get this, it was about a whole movie! Ahora, I got kinda excited b/c after all of the fuss about "Slumdog Millionaire" ( a great movie!) it was nice to see that Latinos were steppin up their movie game too. Pero, me puse un poco nerviosa tambien b/c like I noted "Slumdog Millionaire" is a great movie and a tough act to follow.

Then, I watched some more and was kinda intrigued about the whole plot. Don't worry though, I'm not gonna try and describe it for you or screw it up! Just know that it came out in select theaters on March 20th and its called "Sin Nombre". I look forward to checkin this movie out ( haven't been this interested since "La Mujer de mi Hermano") entonces... ¡disfruten el trailer!
